Advisor Onboarding: How do I onboard existing clients onto the platform?
If you have existing clients you would like to transition over to the Adviice platform without them having to enter all of their information/existing planning themselves, there are two effective methods for manually onboarding existing clients onto the platform.
Option 1: Ask Clients to Create Their Own Account
- Send Your Referral Link:
- Go to your Planner Portal.
-
Locate your planner link at the top of your profile in the Planner > Profile Section

- Share this link with existing clients (it’s the same link you’d use for new clients).
- Client Completes Initial Setup:
- Ask the client to create an account and complete the onboarding questions.
- You Take Over from There:
- Once the client has created their account, you can log into their client account.
- Enter any existing information you already have (e.g., from previous documents or meetings).
- Upload documents and complete the discovery and planning sections.
- Tip: Upload any previous financial plans into the document section
- Client Continues From There:
-
For future updates (e.g., annual reviews), clients can maintain and update their own accounts.
-
This method gives clients immediate access while allowing you to handle most of the initial setup.
Option 2: Create the Account for the Client
- Set Up the Account Yourself in your Planner Portal
- Go to your Planner Portal.
-
In the Planner > Clients Section, select 'Create New Client' and fill out the onboarding questions

- Enter any existing information you already have (e.g., from previous documents or meetings).
- Upload documents and complete the discovery and planning sections.
- Transfer Ownership to the Client:
-
To transition an account to the client you will log into their account, go to Profile, and then "Change Email" to their personal email address.
-
After you do that you can send them an email with the signin link to your client portal (eg: http://app.YOURCOMPANYNAME.ca/signin) and an instruction to reset their password using the "Forgot Password" option. This will allow them to reset their password to something they choose.
-
This method gives you full control over the onboarding process and allows you to present a fully prepared plan before handing it off.
