Trusted Contact Person (TCP)
Certified Financial Planners (CFPs) are required to provide you with the opportunity to designate a Trusted Contact Person (TCP).
A TCP is an individual that you have authorized your CFP to contact and share relevant information with, in the event your CFP has concerns about your well-being or to protect your financial interests.
By assigning a TCP you are authorizing your CFP to contact the named individual to confirm or make inquiries about any of the following:
- concerns about possible financial exploitation;
- concerns about your mental capacity as it relates to the ability to make decisions involving financial matters;
- if you cannot be reached, your current contact information, and/or the names of your legal guardians, executors, or trustees
Please note, a TCP does not have decision-making power. They cannot transact on any of your accounts or alter your financial planning strategies.
You can change or revoke your TCP at any time by updating the information on the platform.
