FAQ: What does "Structure Only, Ignore Land Value" Mean?

This part of the Discovery > Expenses section is to help estimate ongoing maintenance costs of a home. Obviously a large home in Saskatchewan is going to cost more to maintain than a small home in Toronto even though the Toronto home is technically worth more. To avoid this issue you can enter the “structure value” or sometimes called the “rebuild value” on your home insurance. The platform will then estimate a monthly amount required to maintain the structure (roof, windows, furnace etc).

An estimate is fine, just try and account for the fact that you don’t need to spend more on home maintenance simply because the land is more expensive in certain areas.
