FAQ: How Do I Make a Different Scenario?
Copying Your Current Scenario
This is a great option if you want to use the overrides and settings from your current scenario.

- Navigate to the Projections Page:
- Ensure you're on the Projections page, as this is where you can make scenario-specific changes. The Discovery and Foundation pages affect all scenarios equally, so use Projections to test different scenarios.
- Create a Copy of the Base Scenario:
- On the Projections page, start by creating a copy of your current base scenario. You can rename it (e.g., "Base Scenario + Gifts") and add notes to track changes for future reference.
- Modify the Scenario:
- After copying the base scenario, you can begin making specific changes. For example:
- Add a One-Time Expense: If you're gifting money, like $150,000, add it as a one-time expense in the Expenses section. This change will only affect the copied scenario.
- Adjust Drawdown Strategy: If you want to change the way you withdraw funds (e.g., from a TFSA instead of a registered account), modify the withdrawal settings in this specific scenario.
- After copying the base scenario, you can begin making specific changes. For example:
- Recalculate the Plan:
- Once you've made the changes, recalculate the plan. The modified scenario will show the impact of the changes, such as how additional spending (like a gift) affects retirement success rates or taxes.
Creating a New Scenario
A 'New' Scenario removes any overrides or AI strategies that you have activated and returns to the default values.
