FAQ: How do I Test Different Defined Benefit Pension Start Dates?

Adviice will not dynamically calculate pension amounts based on start date so before you start you'll need to go to your employer pension calculator and run the scenarios you want to test.

When you have the pension amounts/dates you want to test, you'll need to create a new scenario (or multiple scenarios depending on how many start dates you'd like to test). If you're not sure how to do that you can see a video here.

In the new scenario you can change the key Defined Benefit information in the Advanced Options Section of Planning > Projections.

In Advanced Options, scroll down to the Defined Benefit Pensions section and change the Pension Start date by clicking on the blue 'Start Age' and/or '+ Months' fields. The Start date column will automatically change to confirm your choice.

Once you have changed the start date, change the Pre-65 and Post-65 Annual Benefits fields to match the new numbers from your employer pension calculator.

Click the Save button in the bottom right corner, and then Recalculate your plan.
