FAQ: Are Investment Balances in the Summary End of Year Values?
The balance in the Summary table is always the end of year value.
To calculate the next year end of year value you would take the prior year balance, subtract any withdrawals, then calculate the investment growth on the reduced balance, and then add any contributions (withdrawals are assumed to be beginning of the year and contributions are assumed to be the end of the year).
Example: If you had a previous ending balance of $76,964 in 2024, add 4.04% growth in 2025 (so $76,964 x 1.0404 = $80,073), then add the $7,000 contribution in 2025 ($80,073 + $7,000 = $87,073), which gives you the ending balance of $87,073 in 2025.
