FAQ: Why is my RRSP Meltdown Not Starting for 2 Years in Retirement?

There are two reasons this might be happening:

  1. Retirement Age: Some of the AI Strategies use the “Retirement Age” from the Profile section to indicate when to start. The RRSP Meltdown is one example.

    To make sure the RRSP Meltdown starts at the right age you would need to check that the Retirement Age for both of you is accurate.

    You can change it in either the Profile Section (all scenarios) or in the Advanced Options (one scenario). You can see how it's done here.

  2. Overrides: The other thing to check is that your RRSP hasn’t been overridden to a specific value in the first 2-years of the plan. This would prevent the RRSP Meltdown from adjusting the value. You can see a full list of overrides in the Override Report.
